Our Founder
1980 - 1987
In 1980, our owner, Larry Kagan, graduated in the top of his class from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). After graduating from college, Larry began working for Automatic Data Processing ("ADP") on Long Island as a Small Payroll Specialist. ADP had just launched a new payroll product for companies with less than 20 employees. In his first year, Larry was the top salesperson nationwide and sold the most new, small payrolls. Larry’s success led to a long, seven year sales career at ADP, in both their New York City and Long Island offices. While working for ADP, Larry attended Business School at New York University in the evenings, and earned his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in 1987.
1987-1997
In late 1987, Larry started his first business, Deltaforce Personnel Services. Operating in New York City, Deltaforce was a temporary and permanent legal staffing firm, servicing law firms and legal departments 24/7/365. For ten years as President, Larry operated and grew this company before selling it in 1997 to a public company.
1997 -2004
Following the transition of Deltaforce to the new owners, Larry started Baron Group LLC on Long Island as a staffing company. Larry studied and obtained his insurance license and began selling group health insurance and pension plans to businesses. In 2002, Larry accepted a position as the General Manager for a large payroll company in Virginia and was responsible for both sales and operations for multiple offices up and down the east coast. Larry was back in the payroll business and here he learned the operations side of the business.
2004 -present
In 2004, Larry decided to open his own payroll company, and launched Baron Payroll.
As an experienced, successful entrepreneur who started and grew several service companies, Larry is very familiar with what it takes to make a small business prosper. Larry now devotes his efforts to sales and marketing for Baron Payroll. Larry enjoys sharing his vast business knowledge and experience with our clients, helping them streamline their payroll process by utilizing our proven solutions in the areas of time & attendance, human resources, payroll and accounting.
