Baron Has a New Website, and It's Tailored Toward Helping New York Business Owners

Check out Baron Payroll's new website

Our new website looks pretty, sure, but our Learning Center is the real difference. We walk you through all the information we've compiled to help New York business owners make an informed payroll and human resources purchase.

By Larry Kagan, Founder & CEO, Baron Payroll

Welcome to Baron Payroll's new website! Typically, a company would tell you about its bells and whistles and the various ways you can buy all their products.

But we're here to help you, a potential client, learn how payroll works in New York, how you can access your options, and how to keep your company safe. Our website's job is to educate you.

A vital feature of this new website is our Learning Center. It has blog articles, videos, eBooks, and guides to walk you through all the challenges New York business owners face. Our goal is to empower you to make your own decisions when choosing a payroll company.

Of course, we believe we have the right options for you and your company at Baron. But our Learning Center is primarily based on educating you, not selling you products.

You have questions about payroll and HR in New York. The Learning Center has answers.

The Learning Center is tailored toward you as an owner seeking information about payroll and HR — critical things you need to know to run your business in New York successfully.

You'll also learn who we are and who we aren't. We're based in New York, and we know everything about NY state and local employment laws. We won't waste your time, and we understand your New York accent because we have one, too. We provide boutique services — no phone trees here and no waiting hours on hold. We know you have specific needs, and we can meet them with personalized services. We don't have commission breath. We aren't trying to maximize sales commissions, so we aren't selling you unnecessary products.

We'll give you an overview here of the kinds of information you can find in the Learning Center to educate yourself on our services and the industry in general.

Helping you decide what to buy

If you know what services you need and you're ready to make a decision on which company to use, we have plenty of articles that'll help you determine which company is best for you.

We have a rundown of the top 10 payroll companies in New York. In addition, we have comparisons of our services to two major companies: PayChex and ADP.

If you want to hear from other New Yorkers who switched to Baron, you can get the skinny right from their mouths. And we share the top five reasons people switch payroll companies, too.

Do you want to know how much payroll services cost for a New York business? We have that. And we tell you all about UKG, the technology that underlies our services.

We have details on additional products – time clocks and face clocks – that can help you comply with NY laws as well. And we have some insight into Professional Employer Organizations, which you definitely want to read if you're considering using one.

If you need services that we don’t provide, we have a Partner Directory that includes vetted companies we know and trust. In the directory, you can find referrals for accounting, bookkeeping, insurance, technology and more.

Keeping you in compliance with New York employment laws

A critical component of keeping your business running is knowing and following the wage and hour laws. And here in New York, we have a ton of them, and they change often. So we're experts on them, and we're sharing that expertise with you so you can save time, money, and heartache.

We wrote an eBook that goes through all the most essential New York employment laws. Start here to understand what you need to know to comply in New York.

You'll need an employee handbook, which helps provide legal cover and informs your employees of the rules they need to follow. This should be a top priority, and you should update it annually.

We provide deep dives on several New York laws – wage and hour regulations, overtime pay, paid sick leave, recordkeeping laws. And we let you know about an app that employees can use to report your business to the Department of Labor for legal violations.

If you prefer videos, we have a series of videos aimed at compliance issues as well. For example, we talk about the Department of Labor, new W4 forms for 2021, New York overtime rules, and laws about recordkeeping.

We also want to keep you safe from fraudsters. So we tell you how to safeguard your business against scammers trying to steal your employees' direct deposits.

Learning about hiring and training employees

Hiring the right people, and doing so correctly, is one of your most difficult tasks. We want to help.

If you're struggling to hire workers within your budget, you should consider hiring people who have ITINs instead of Social Security numbers. If you have ITINs on your payroll, we can process those quickly and easily, unlike other payroll companies.

Our video about people without Social Security numbers shares more about that.

And another video shows you an easy three-step training process you can use in your business, too.

Navigating COVID-19 options for you

COVID-19 changed the ways businesses operate, and it brought some potential funds you could access to keep your company afloat through the pandemic.

We share how to utilize Paycheck Protection Program loans. However, we advise you to wait on filing PPP2 loan forgiveness forms for now because the forgiveness rules are in flux, and you still have time.

And you might be eligible for more free federal stimulus funds that you aren't aware of. We have a video version of that information as well.

We're here to help you

As you can see, we've put in tons of time to create articles and videos that help NY business owners learn about our industry and our company without focusing on sell, sell, sell.

Our Learning Center underscores our expertise on New York payroll and HR, and how it works, and we hope you find the answers you need to make an informed buying decision.
